    microwave mw

  • Loosely, an electromagnetic wave having a wavelength from 300 mm to 10 mm (1 GHz to 30 GHz). Note: Microwaves exhibit many of the properties usually associated with waves in the optical regime, e.g., they are easily concentrated into a beam.

  • Ralph Waldo Emerson (May 25, 1803 – April 27, 1882) was an American philosopher, lecturer, essayist, and poet, best remembered for leading the Transcendentalist movement of the mid-19th century.
  • United States writer and leading exponent of transcendentalism (1803-1882)
  • Ralph Waldo (1803–82), US philosopher and poet. In 1832, while visiting Britain, he became associated with German idealism. On his return to the US, he evolved the concept of transcendentalism, which found expression in his essay Nature (1836)
  • Emerson is a provincial electoral division in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It has existed since 1879, when it was created by redistribution.

Aqueous Microwave Assisted Chemistry: Synthesis and Catalysis (RSC Green Chemistry)
Aqueous Microwave Assisted Chemistry: Synthesis and Catalysis (RSC Green Chemistry)
The demands for green and sustainable synthetic methods in the fields of healthcare and fine chemicals, combined with the pressure to produce these substances expeditiously and in an environmentally benign fashion, pose significant challenges to the synthetic chemical community. Green chemistry can avoid pollution by utilizing techniques that are environmentally friendly by design and one of the best green techniques is the use of microwave (MW) assisted aqueous synthetic protocols. Fusing MW technique with water (as a benign reaction medium) can offer an extraordinary synergistic effect with greater potential than these two individual components in isolation. Selective microwave heating can be exploited to develop a high yield protocol and the use of water expedites the MW-protocol with more energy efficiency. This book provides an overview of the various processes developed using aqueous microwave chemistry and is written for chemists, chemical engineers and researchers in the early stages who want to develop sustainable and green processes. Written by well known microwave experts, the book is a comprehensive examination of the field and is the first book that deals strictly with aqueous microwave chemistry and represents a significant effort towards green chemistry. It covers all the microwave-assisted aqueous reactions in depth, including heterocycle synthesis, metal catalysis, enzyme catalysis, polymer synthesis, nanomaterials synthesis and nano-catalysis. Each chapter contains representative experimental procedures, helping the reader quickly replicate some of the experiments to gain hands-on experience.

Kingsport Telco CO – Old MW Link

Kingsport Telco CO - Old MW Link
This old Microwave link used to connect to another tower about 10 miles away on Foxfire Ln. That old route has long since been traded for fiber optic links and the Foxfire site put to use as a cellular site.

This central office used to be "United Telephone" from the 60s to the early 90s, then it was bought out by Sprint, and is currently under the "Century Link" name. The old switch for the "Circle" exchanges 245 and 247 were serviced by a SxS with classic tone plant, and the 246 exchange was serviced by a XB-1 with pseudo ESS ring. The newer exchange 378 was serviced by a 1A-ESS. All exchanges served from this building were upgraded to DMS 100 in August of 1987.

This Island

This Island
Finally a picture of the front of the island, finished. Left side is a garbage pull-out; right side is a microwave. The MW cavity is 4" taller than the microwave, so I built a stand with a drawer in to take up the extra space (the single knob). The drawer is the longest/widest in the kitchen, but also the most shallow. Perfect for cutting boards and wraps.
